Camping Hints For People With Kids

Today more than ever camping grounds have seen a big influx in the number of people that are looking towards more affordable holidays, especially young families that are watching their pennies now a days. When we were younger we could just carry our tents in a back pack and we would then go hiking until we want to pull up and camp for the night this was so easy all you did was clear the ground and put a ground sheet down and you then popped your tent up.

Today though the modern camper takes everything from home that is not nailed down, camping stores have even an ensuite complete with shower and a chemical toilet how spoilt is that! I have watched campers over the years and saw them try to cope with small children that weren’t walking and trying to keep them quiet when they woke up at early in the am. When I had children I made a pact with my husband that we wouldn’t take the kids camping until they were walking. Some people might disagree but this is what worked best for me.

When you are getting outfitted for your camping holiday always buy a tent size up to what you think that you will need. If you do this it will allow more space to keep your luggage, toys and other essentials that you will need.

If you go to a caravan park or trailer park some of the facilities they have will certainly impress you. From the activities that they have on site, to babysitting, games rooms, kid’s playground equipment, plaster painting. Even some of the bigger parks put on a show at night for the guests.

Hints and tips when camping

• When you are at your camping spot plan to arrive about lunch time as this will give you time to have the kids run around and burn off some of that energy that they have.

• Take a thermos and fill up with something that you will be able to feed everyone in a hurry. Yes I know your camping but it all takes time setting tent up getting the dinner prepared. I like to have soup, hot dogs or casserole. Any meal will do as long as it can be served up in a hurry, little children will be tired and hungry at the end of the first night.

• As a Mom I like to also do a few meals that I can freeze this just sometimes makes it a little easier on myself as it gives me the night off cooking

• A flash light is the best thing for spotting the night life so make sure you pack one and keep it handy I found also to make sure everyone has a job to do to help put up the tent, the girls had to hold the tent pegs and hand them to Daddy, I needed to lay the poles out so they were all matched up and Hubby had to do the other bits and pieces. This way everyone made a contribution to the holiday and the same happened for the packing up.

Outdoor Summer Camp Adventures That Kids Look Forward To

Summers take on a new level of excitement once your kids are old enough to go to camp, and parenting today requires coming up with new activities that pull your kids away from their electronics. At an adventure-based summer camp, your kid will never complain about spending time outside because they will be having too much fun testing their abilities with new challenges. During your search for a quality summer camp, look for these favorite outdoor adventures that kids look forward to all year long.

Build Survival Skills With Overnight Camping

For many kids, spending the night camping is the ultimate adventure. During summer camp overnight trips, cabin groups get to head out across the water and camp out in a wilderness location. There, they learn how to build a campfire, set up a safe shelter and follow outdoor safety rules. Once camp is set up, campers then get to enjoy some camaraderie as they roast marshmallows and sing songs around the fire.

Learn Awesome Waterskiing and Wakeboarding Tricks

Many people waterski at least once in their lifetime. However, kids who go to summer camp get to dive into watersports and discover a passion for adventure. During waterskiing and wakeboarding lessons, kids gradually work through a system of skills each day until they have mastered the coolest tricks. Returning campers look forward to progressing in their lessons each summer until they are confidently doing jumps and flips with the proficiency of a competitive skier or wakeboarder.

Soar Through the Air in Aerial Acrobatics Classes

Adventure camps take gymnastics lessons and amplify them with specialized training in aerial acrobatics. For many kids, summer camp is one of the few places where they can strengthen their skills in the safety of a state-of-the-art gym that is equipped with features such as bungee systems that allow kids to safely learn to fly. Aerial silks are one example of acrobatics where kids can learn how to conquer their fears as they perform tricks that dazzle an audience, and trampolining accents a kid’s competitive abilities in a wide range of sports.

Enjoy Freedom to Explore New Friendships and Fun

Although summer camp experiences are always enjoyed under careful supervision, many of the biggest adventures that kids have start with having the freedom to explore new opportunities to socialize and develop new interests. During free times, kids get to venture out on the water and engage in serious play activities such as canoe races and floating on inflatable water toys. Spontaneous kid-led sports competitions are a common sight on the campgrounds, and the positive atmosphere created at camp stimulates kids to try things that they would have never thought of trying before at home. Whether a kid enjoys working through each new height of a ropes course or flying on the Tarzan swing, every moment is packed full of adventure.

Kids look forward to adventure camp all year long, and it’s common to see kids practicing the skills they learned the year before as they get ready for their upcoming summer. Whether your kid was practically born with fins and loves the water or they prefer to bounce their days away on a trampoline, you can enjoy knowing that they will be full of stories when they return from their summer camp about their amazing adventures.
